Abstract
On April 7, 2014, the Donetsk People’s Republic proclaimed state sovereignty and existed as an independent state until joining the Russian Federation on September 30, 2022. However, the eight-year experience of the existence of a modern state in the center of Europe is under-studied. In particular, the factors that influenced the formation of the legislation of the Donetsk People’s Republic, such as the territorial and geographical location of the republic, its historical community with Russia and Ukraine, the ethnic and confessional composition of the population, scientific and technical potential, had not previously been the subject of scientific research. In the presented work, the interaction of the above factors is considered using examples of the adoption of specific legislative acts.
