The journal was founded in 1996 and was being published until 2000. It’s issue was renewed by the decision of the Academic Council of the Russian State University for the Humanities on June 27, 2006, because of need to represent to scientific community the results of fundamental, practical, and exploratory researches in the humanities and social sciences; to provide scientific communication; to involve young scientists in the implementation of research programs of the RSUH; to assist in the introduction of research results in the educational programs of the RSUH. On November 16, 2006 the magazine was registered as a mass media. Since 2015, the journal is divided into major thematic series (History, Philology, Cultural Studies, Oriental Studies, Philosophy, Social Studies, Art Studies, Political Science, History, International Relations, Foreign Regional Studies, Oriental Studies, Document Studies, and Archival Studies, Information security, Psychology, Pedagogy, Education, Economics, Management, Law, Linguistics) and continues to perform those functions that have been carried out since 2006.
